Before VANAS I had a basic understanding of art principles. I was in advanced art classes in my high school and won a few local contests with some of my pieces. Later in my career, I began to design costumes, sets and specialty props for theater companies and agencies I was involved with in Las Vegas.
Can you tell us a bit of your art background prior to VANAS?
I did a little bit of motion graphics before VANAS, but didn't go further in the animation field. I participated in the making of documentary films for the university filming interviews and shots and video edition. So, I have basic knowledge of photography and video.
How would you define what you do?
Well, I would define it as the process of developing and image based just on an idea or words. Sometimes you get to create entire worlds from scratch, or you get to design a production frame, design the color or the mood for a videogame level, develop a striking pose that would be used as an advertising image... a concept artist is some kind of jack-of-all-trades guy.
