Concept Art Diploma
The objectives for this Concept Art program are to welcome aspiring Concept Artists and prepare them throughout the course of studies for entry level positions in the Animation, Visual Effects and Video Game industries.
This program provides them with the necessary foundation tools and the key to becoming successful Conceptual Artists. VANAS offers Online and Combined delivery options for the fully accredited Concept Art diploma program.

2) Combined (Online + Onsite)
Time is divided between online and onsite learning. Every Friday from 10am-1pm, students spend 3 hours with in-person sessions and interacting with their peers and Industry professionals.

Admission Requirements
Age
High school graduate (with transcript), or 19 years of age or older
Assessment Test
Successfully pass general
assessment test that includes
a computer knowledge assessment,
Internet knowledge assessment,
English reading and writing skills
assessment.
Portfolio
If no portfolio is submitted,
student must successfully
pass the corresponding
Introductory course.

Study and Work in Canada
International Students have the option to study from their
home countries or within Canada.
This full-time online program meets the Ministry of Education requirements to Study and Work in Canada. Students may study from their home countries or in Vancouver, Canada. When studying in Vancouver, Canada, all classes are conducted online and 20 hours per week of on-site lab access is available for students to interact with one another.

Program Outline
Concept Art Diploma
Term 1
Drawing Preparation &
Drawing Foundations
Students will learn how to create Concept Art for use in the Animation, Visual Effects and Video Game Industries. They will expand their knowledge of various digital drawing and painting software. Students will learn how to effectively transition from traditional drawing methods to finalizing their images with Wacom and Cintiq Tablets.
Duration: 3 months
Term 2
Characters &
Environments Design
Students will complete a series of milestones that will enable them to build a comprehensive portfolio. Students will gain insight and experience by experiencing different recruiter interviews. This will improve their necessary interviewing skills that are required to secure employment. Industry conduct, practices and professional behavior will be explored.

Term 3
Production
Design
Students will learn how to prepare their designs to be reproduced by other departments within the studio or overseas. Design and technical challenges are resolved before artwork is released to the production stage.
Duration: 3 months
Term 4
Portfolio
Development
Students will complete a series of milestones that will enable them to build a comprehensive portfolio. Students will gain insight and experience by experiencing different recruiter interviews. This will improve their necessary interviewing skills that are required to secure employment. Industry conduct, practices and professional behavior will be explored.
Duration: 3 months
Students must obtain a minimum grade of a B- to successfully pass.
Course codes: CONC-100, CONC-200, CONC-300, CONC-400.

Post-Graduation Work Permit
While VANAS programs do not qualify for the post-graduation work permit, some of our educational partners do.
