Program Outline

Anime & Manga:  Getting Started

Week 1
Concept: Heads!

Let's get this course started by learning all about the signature characteristics of anime and manga, namely enormous eyes, colorful hair and how to effectively use them in your own work!

Week 2
Technique: Bodies!

Being able to draw beautiful eyes and hair is great, but they will only get you so far if you only have stickmen to draw them on. Learn about structure, proportion, anatomy with anime/manga aesthetics and character design in this week's exciting lesson! Also, we're going to cover chibi characters, because if you're going to royally mess up proportions, you might as well do it intentionally!

Week 3
Clean up: Ink!

Inking is more than just tracing over your sketch with a pen, its a second pass that refines your artwork and cleans up any loose ends, giving the artwork a new lease on life!

Week 4
Finale: Color!

Coloring is often considered the most intensive process of illustration and despite its name, is more than just assigning colors to different parts of the drawing, but also fleshing out the works tonal values and adding special effects! Learn all about different ways to color your works in this lesson!

All asssignments have to be succesfully completed to pass the course.

What is Accreditation?

Accreditation is meant to protect students, schools, and employers. It ensures that a school is educating its students and meeting quality standards.   If you choose a school that isn’t accredited, it may be difficult to use your academic credentials.  Few employers will take your education seriously. Additionally, you may not be able to transfer your credit hours or degree to an accredited school.

If you are learning for personal enjoyment, accreditation may not be important to you. However, if you want to use your academic credential in the workplace or plan on furthering your education at a later date, accreditation is essential.
